Baku Shipyard Opening

The official opening of the Baku Shipyard took place on 20th September 2013. The cutting of the ribbon was carried out by Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Baku Shipyard Company LLC whose members include the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), the Azerbaijan Investment Company (AIC) and KV Enterprises B.V. (KVE, member of Keppel group) are the owners of the new Ship Building Yard in Baku, Azerbaijan. The Shipyard shall be used for the construction, repair and maintenance of marine vessels.

This project comprised the development of a green field site adjacent to the existing Baku Deep Water Jacket Plant (BDWJP), located approximately 24 km south of Baku City. The area of the new shipyard is approximately 50 hectares and includes 48 buildings.

ENCOTEC’s responsibilities in the project included:

  • Project Management;
  • Detail design development and Adaptation of existing FEED design, developed by Royal Haskoning, from the point of constructability, appropriateness to local conditions and standards;
  • Construction Management;
  • Site Engineering;
  • Construction Supervision;
  • Review and approval of proposed procurement packages by various Subcontractors;
  • Development of shop drawings for bulk of facilities;
  • Review and approval of shop drawings prepared by various Subcontractors;
  • Quality Assurance / Quality Control;
  • Author Supervision during construction;
  • Obtaining State Approvals;
  • Commissioning Management and hand over
